We are The Ruined Theatre Company, created to bring professional theatre to Abbey Wood & Thamesmead.
Along with producing top-quality shows we work with local residents in a number of programmes, to bring communities together and offer first-hand involvement in the arts. This includes our outreach programme with local schools, mentorship opportunities and our work Peabody to make theatre accessible for everyone.

When Hansel and Gretel's devoted father has a spell cast on him he loses more that just his mind but also his children in the woods.
The team behind the summer hits Our Teacher's a Troll and Peter Pan, now bring you another thrilling for the Halloween season this half-term!
Come to Lesnes Abbey this Halloween and find out if the resourceful twins, Hansel and Gretel, can resist the sweet temptations of the woods and escape the dark curses that lie within!
Sit in the ancient 800 year old walls of Lesnes Abbey Ruins with a backdrop of the ancient woods and be captivated as this reimagined classic is performed by amazing professional actors in this semi-staged reading ... There isn't a more perfect way to get into the spirit of Halloween.
This show is suitable for all ages and recommended for children 5+, we invite you to wrap up and bring a blanket, visit our spooky pop-up shop and settle in for this special Halloween occasion, adults without children (who aren't scared of the woods) are very welcome!

*Please note that the 11am show on Saturday 28 October is NOT wheelchair or buggy accessible as it will take place in Lesnes Abbey's ancient woodlands a 10 minute walk from Lesnes Abbey Ruins. Audience will be asked to meet at a Lesnes Abbey Wood playground at 10.30am from where they will be escorted to the performance space (map will be emailed). Please bring a blanket to sit on.
**note that the show on Sunday 29th is a twilight show (as the clocks go back) and we anticipate that it will be dark by the time the performance concludes - which we think just makes it more fun!

This Summer The Ruined Theatre is opening its rehearsal room to eight local people to join a free four week mentorship course. This course is aimed at those who are interested in a career in theatre or who just what to find out a bit more about what happens behind the scenes in the creation of a professional production.

Creative Access Mentorship Course
We run a mentorship programme alongside our summer productions. This is an entirely free course and perfect for you if you're interested in the arts but not sure where to start.
During the Creative Access Mentorship Course you will work alongside our creative team, learn new skills and be introduced first hand to the world of theatre. This course is for those 16+ and is perfect for those interested in directing, stage management, costume and design, producing and other areas of the industry!

Nancy has lived in Abbey Wood for 10 years and it has been a long-awaited vision to bring to life this ruined abbey with theatre!
Nancy is an advocate in making arts accessible to everyone and is keen to place a strong emphasis on this through The Ruined Theatre C.I.C
